Celebrating 50 Years of TNF Inexa: From Local Department to Global Leader

This year, TNF Inexa has marked its 50th anniversary and looks back on a journey that spans five decades, starting with the local production under Rockwool in
Denmark and evolving into a global company with production facilities in China.

Our Origins: Pioneering Marine Accommodation The story of TNF Inexa dates back to 1974 when Elsinore Shipyard approached Rockwool to manufacture specialized panels. This led to the establishment of Rockwool TNF, which developed the first panel: the 50 mm Rockwool TNF type 1, featuring plastic laminate facings. By 1979, the department had grown into an independent company, Rockment A/S, delivering its first order to the cruise ship The Golden Odysses.

Innovation and Expansion

In the 1980s, TNF introduced several groundbreaking innovations, including the TNF
2S and 2P panels, which featured PVC-coated galvanized steel surfaces. Responding to customer needs for enhanced soundproofing, TNF’s R&D team developed the renowned 2SM panel, capable of achieving a sound reduction of Rw 44 dB.

With agent agreements worldwide, TNF established a global footprint in the maritime industry. However, the tragic Scandinavian Star fire in 1990 marked a turning point. In response, TNF pioneered halogen-free surface solutions like TNF Pacific and its derivative TNF MAGIC, significantly enhancing fire safety standards.

New Ownership and Global Reach

In 1993, TNF Rockment was acquired by Sweden’s INEXA Holding, becoming TNF Inexa. The company continued to expand, forming a joint venture with Saajos Finland in 1995 to supply A- and B-class doors.

The late 1990s saw TNF’s entry into land-based projects through INEXA Readymade, supplying ready-made shower cabins for apartments and hotel renovations. TNF’s success in cruise markets also inspired the development of TNF-JIT (just-in-time) cabins, complete with furniture, shower cabins, and electrical installations — a key milestone achieved in collaboration with Jamestown for the Pride of America cruise ship in 2000.

Strategic Relocation and Continued Growth

In 2007, TNF’s production was relocated from Hedehusene, Denmark, to a new factory in Nantong, Jiangsu, China, in response to increased competition from the Far East. The move also brought shower cabin and door production in-house, solidifying TNF’s position as a comprehensive supplier of marine accommodation solutions.

In 2016, ownership of TNF Inexa transferred to Luka Martinsen, marking a new era for the company. With roots in Beijing and Denmark, Luka’s leadership aimed to drive expansion and development. This vision led to another significant relocation in 2022 when the Nantong government’s decision to transform the industrial area into a green zone prompted TNF’s move to Weihai, Shandong province.

The People Behind Our Success

‘None of this would be possible without our dedicated employees. In 2022, TNF proudly celebrated the 40th work anniversary of Mrs. Lea Sørensen — a testament to the loyalty, commitment, and expertise of our team members.
